White's Junction Trail

The White’s Junction Trail runs along the former CN rail line north of Palmerston. Look for an old steam engine chugging up to Main Street in Palmerston and you’ve found the White’s Junction Trail. To access the trail, follow the signs on Main Street Palmerston, near the Foodland grocery store. The trail boasts one of the most northern sightings of tall Prairie grasses, including Indian grass and Big Blue Stem. The trail also features two wooden trestle bridges. The trail is owned and maintained by the Town of Minto. To connect to the Harriston Greenway Trail, follow the White’s Junction Trail to the 7th Line and then the newly paved road shoulder through the roundabout to Harriston.

Cultural Moment

Palmerston is home to one of the most norther sightings of tall Prairie grasses, including Indian grass and Big Blue Stem. The Prairie was enhanced in 2004 with over 2,00  plugs thanks to funding provided by the MNR.

This trail is also home to two old wooden trestle bridges - most of these bridges have been removed so we are fortunate to have two!
