Town of Minto Confirms Excellent Drinking Water Quality and Proactive Water Supply Planning
Minto - October 13, 2026
The Town of Minto is pleased to report excellent results from its annual drinking water system inspections and its independent third-party audit of the Town’s drinking water quality management system.
All four of the Town’s drinking water systems – Clifford, Harriston, Minto Pines and Palmerston – received 100% final inspection ratings following their annual inspections by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).
The Town also successfully completed its mandatory third-party Drinking Water Quality Management System audit, conducted by Intertek, with zero non-conformances. This is an excellent result and reflects the Town’s commitment to maintaining strong operational practices, meeting regulatory requirements and providing safe, reliable drinking water.
“Our residents can be confident in the quality of their drinking water and the work being done to protect this essential service,” said Mayor Dave Turton, Mayor of the Town of Minto. “These results reflect the dedication of our water department team and our commitment to responsible, long-term planning for our communities.”
Planning Ahead for Future Water Needs
The Town’s current water supplies are meeting the needs of our communities, and the Town is planning ahead to ensure its infrastructure can support future needs.
As part of this proactive approach, the Town is working to identify and develop potential new well sources in both Palmerston and Harriston. This work is being undertaken in advance of anticipated future needs to support the long-term reliability and sustainability of the Town’s water supply.
Identifying and developing new water sources takes time, including technical investigations, regulatory approvals and infrastructure planning. By starting this work early, the Town is taking responsible steps to prepare for future growth and maintain reliable municipal services.
A Dedicated Team and a Commitment to Safe Drinking Water
Providing safe, high-quality drinking water requires ongoing monitoring, maintenance, regulatory compliance and the dedication of qualified staff. The Town’s recent inspection and audit results demonstrate the strength of its drinking water operations and its continued focus on protecting public health.
The Town of Minto thanks its water department staff for their professionalism and commitment to providing residents with safe, reliable drinking water every day.
