Public Meeting Notice - Community Improvement Plan Update 2025
TAKE NOTICE that the Town of Minto will hold a public meeting on October 21st, 2025 starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Town of Minto Council Chambers (5941 Hwy 89, Harriston, ON), to consider a Community Improvement Plan (CIP) Update pursuant to the provisions of the Ontario Planning Act.
The CIP update will provide a framework to encourage the maintenance and rehabilitation of existing commercial, mixed-use, industrial, and institutional buildings and structures, and redevelopment of vacant and underutilized properties and buildings. The CIP update allows for nine (9) financial incentive programs to registered owners and tenants of land and buildings within the Community Improvement Project Area to assist with façade improvement and signage, building improvement and structural works, interior leasehold improvement, property improvement, flood risk reduction, community planting and stewardship, licensed home child care, and relevant application fees. This update involves changes to plan administration, where Council will delegate it’s responsibility for approving or refusing applications for financial incentive programs to a CIP Implementation Committee.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the CIP update.
If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Council of the Town of Minto before the CIP update is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council of the Town of Minto to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal.
If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Council of the Town of Minto before the CIP update is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
If you wish to be notified of the adoption of the CIP update, you must make a written request to Belinda Wick-Graham, the Director of Economic & Community Development for the Town of Minto at belinda@town.minto.on.ca, and such request must include the name and address to which such notice should be sent.
