GET ACTIVE AND GET ENGAGED, MINTO

Updated: Apr 12, 2024

The Town of Minto is excited to announce the development of a new Recreation Master Plan, and a new Cultural Master Plan. The two separate plans will serve as blueprints for the Town’s many recreation and culture opportunities for residents, user groups and visitors, now and in the future.

The consulting firm of McQueen Galloway Associates (MGA) has been retained by the Town to complete all phases of these two projects. MGA understands the unique needs of small, rural, and progressive communities like Minto. The Recreation Master Plan and the Cultural Master Plan will each be flexible and realistic, with short-, medium- and long-term strategies that will support and enhance access to recreation, parks, and culture for everyone. Highlights of the two Plans include:

  • Complete analysis of programming, facilities and parks, cultural facilities, and benchmarking service standards.
  • Determine if the current programs, services meet the needs of the community now and into the future.
  • Look at efficiencies and need for all recreation amenities and facilities, and cultural amenities and facilities based on population and diversity of the Town.
  • Review capital and operating budgets, providing insights on efficiencies and best practices.
  • Evaluate current and future partnerships for sustainability and “value add” for the community.

Engagement Opportunities

Community engagement is an essential part of the project. It helps build a common understanding of the issues and empowers residents to have their say in the future of the Town. Join us at one of the following sessions:

Tuesday April 23rd at:

  • Palmerston Arena, 520 Cavan Street at 5:30pm
  • Harriston Arena, 111 George Street South at 7:30pm

Wednesday, April 24th at:

  • Clifford Community Hall, 2 William Street North at 7:00pm

Your input is important so that this plan truly reflects the community. You’ll have a chance to share what’s great about Parks & Recreation; and Culture in the Town and your aspirations and vision for the future plus your strategies to achieve them through a SOAR (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, and Results) exercise.

MGA will also be creating and Online Survey for residents to further provide their input in the Recreation Master Plan and the Cultural Master Plan. The survey will be posted towards the end of April so please watch the Town website www.town.minto.on.ca for the survey.
