Volunteer Driver (aka Family Chauffer)
Job Description
Volunteer Drivers are part of our Client Transportation team. They work towards the safety and well-being of children and youth by connecting children and parents to each other or to resources that support their family’s wellbeing. This could be driving a new mom and baby for their first check up, taking a dad from Mount Forest to Guelph for caring Dad’s parenting group, driving a child to their weekly counselling session, or taking a family to a medical appointment. Volunteers in this role are ‘chauffeurs’ and use their own vehicle. KM and expenses are reimbursed, including a meal reimbursement for longer trips.
Commitment: 1 year to ongoing. Drives could be during the week (day or evening) and on the weekend. Scheduling is flexible based on volunteer availability. 4 - 8 drives a week are preferred and can be averaged over the month.
Responsibilities: • Review weekly email with needed drives, select and communicate your availability • Drive children and/or parent to specified location set by FCSGW (Guelph, Wellington County, and occasionally outside of the county) • Assist individuals to and from the vehicle when needed • Ensure the safe transportation during the trip • Carry a cell phone • Report issues and concerns to FCSGW staff • Complete and submit monthly log for milage reimbursement • Maintain confidentiality • Attend orientation or training sessions • Work within the policies, procedures and practices of FCSGW

Qualifications
• Valid driver’s license & 3 year Drivers Abstract • Vulnerable Sector Check (police check) and internal agency record check • Proof of minimum 2-million liability insurance coverage • Declaration stating vehicle meets safety standards as per The Highway Traffic Act and requirements for the Ministry of Transportation. • Car Seat Training (required for younger children and babies), provided
