Job Description

Big Brother/Mentor - A male person who can meet with a younger male person (child/youth) to do activities together, chat about school, work, family and life in general, approximately once per week or once every other week for 1 -3 hours, depending on the activity you choose to do. It is an opportunity to be a mentor or guide for a young person, to share and talk about your childhood experiences and/or to do activities, such as watch or play sports together, work on a project, cook, bbq or take in a community event or activity ... all activities are to be safe and fun.

Qualifications

A male adult over the age of 18 up to any age. Caring, understanding and patient. Someone who wants to make a positive difference in a child's life by building a friendship that encourages him to make good decisions and do his best.

How to Apply

An application will be sent to you, which includes giving references and doing a police check (vulnerable sector check). Interview and training will follow. We offer three core mentoring programs. One to One Community Match where we match a Big Brother or a Big Sister or a Couple to a child or youth. In-School Mentoring Program where we match a Mentor to a Mentee (student) and they get together once a week for an hour on the school site. Group - Game On & Go Girls - 7 weeks for one hour, group led by a Mentor volunteer and follows a guideline of positive key messages and activities.
